Every Partner Counts: MTV Tr3s
I was connected to fellow Salvadoran Mario Cader-French, vice president of public affairs & corporate responsibility for Viacom International Media Networks, through photographer and filmmaker, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, the man behind the HBO documentary film, "The Latino List," that I participated in. Mario and his colleague Wendy Perez's department works to bring in non-profit sectors into mainstream media, encouraging youth and the MTV audience to learn more and take action on social issues.
In trying to find a way to help us further with our outreach, Mario and Wendy offered to help integrate EMC’s maternal health messaging into Viacom’s programs- specifically that of MTV Tr3s, which is geared towards the Latin American population in the US, and MTV Latin America.
In the coming months Every Mother Counts will be providing MTV Tr3s’ program, “Quiero Mi Baby,” and MTV's Latin American “16 & Pregnant,” with information on maternity care and maternal health throughout the programming. We are excited to be able to use this platform to share our messaging and educate a wide new audience.
"16 & Pregnant" series premiere: Tuesday, July 17th at 9pm EST on MTV Latin America.

Interesting partnership... information is certainly part of the issues that young latin american women from the more disenfranchised groups of society are lacking... wonder if these are the ones generating the statistics in maternal health... in any case, integrated into popular culture it could provide resonance space for other on-the-ground initiatives that you could consider partnering with in the longer run...
