28 yrs old, Chaunté Lowe, an American women’s high jump world record holder, will be competing in the finals of the women's high jump on Saturday, August 11th. Lowe finished sixth in the event at the 2008 Games in Beijing.  She is also the mother of two. This is her third Olympics.

According to a recent NYTimes article, “After baby, Gold?” Lowe, discusses the benefits of being a mom with a profession in sports, “Before the birth, the highest weight I could squat was 225 pounds,” she said last month from Loganville, Ga. “But now I can squat a lot more than that.”

Besides holding the American-record 2.05m/6-8 in the high jump, Lowe also holds a degree in economics and finance from Georgia Tech.
