Closing Ceremony: Celebrating Olympian Moms

August 13, 2012

The 2012 Olympic games came to a close last night in London. The past two weeks were a rollercoaster of athletic and emotional ups and downs for many athletes, now returning home to proud families. Some athletes have kids waiting to greet their medal-winning mothers. Of the thirteen mothers on the US Olympic team, seven lucky women are leaving London with medals. Kerri Walsh Jennings, Christie Rampone, Candace Parker, and Kristin Armstrong received gold medals, Lashinda Demus (mother of twins!), Tayyiba Haneef-Park and Danielle Scott-Arruda won silvers and Indian boxer, Mary Kom received a bronze. Whether they took home medals or not, it was inspiring to watch mothers from around the world compete in the games! Here are a few articles that highlight the remarkable success of these Olympic supermoms.

Check out the EMC postings cheering on some of these moms throughout this year's Olympics.
