Let Girls Be Girls – A Photo Contest
We’re gearing up for the first International Day of the Girl with plans to spotlight issues girls face around the world, throughout October. And to get the ball rolling, we’re excited to announce Let Girls Be Girls – a photo contest. Send in your pictures (with parental permission, of course) of girls doing what girls do best – everything from biking, playing, singing, acting, talking, dancing, reading, cooking, shooting hoops, drawing, studying, skating, drumming, playing video games, playing guitar…whatever.
Why girls? Because, if we’re really going to change maternal health outcomes we need to start with girls. In many parts of the world, girls as young as eight years old are already getting married. Girls as young as twelve are becoming mothers and complications from pregnancy and childbirth are a leading cause of death among girls.

Our focus for October is all about preventing girls from losing their childhood, potential and identity and from ending their educations at a time when most girls are just figuring out who they are and what they want to do when they grow up. Send in pictures of your girls ages 10 to 18 and we’ll select the one that best represents the image of girls being girls. The winner of our contest will receive a customized bumper sticker! Yeah, we know, it’s not a trophy or new car, but what the heck…we’re saving our money and your donations to empower girls, women and mothers around the world. How do you submit them? Just email them here and we'll do the rest.
